Brooke Morgan began playing the violin at the age of eight, and has spent the following two decades pursuing her passion of playing and teaching music. She holds a Bachelor's Degree in Violin Performance from the Texas Tech School of Music and has begun work on a Master's Degree from the University of Maryland. She has had the privilege of studying with exceptional teachers including Sally O'Reilly, John Gilbert, Jan Sloman, and Elisabeth Adkins.
At the recommendation of a friend, Brooke attended a Suzuki training course one summer, unsure of what to expect. It was there that she fell in love with the Suzuki method, enthusiastically subscribing to Dr. Suzuki's theory that every child can play an instrument at an extremely high level when instruction is modeled after the process in which children learn their native language. Brooke continued her Suzuki training over the following years and has received her Suzuki certification from the renowned pedagogues Ronda Cole, Edmund Sprunger, and Ann Montzka-Smelser.
Ms. Townsend's students have been the recipients of many honors and distinctions including membership into the Chesapeake Youth Symphony Orchestra and concertmaster and principal appointments in their school orchestras. Her students have received the highest score possible (I) at the Regional and State Solo and Ensemble Competition.
Ms. Townsend works hard to ensure that her teaching style adapts to the unique needs of each child at her school. She strives to instill in her students a love for music and a talent for learning that extends beyond the violin.
